Wang Zhimin

Wang Zhimin, male, born in August 1978, PhD/researcher, supervisor of master's degree students in Bioengineering at Fudan University. Received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Hebei University in 2001. From 2001 to 2006, he took a successive postgraduate and doctoral program at the Institute of Genetics of Fudan University. From July 2006 to December 2008, he has been occupied in post-doctoral research in the Chinese National Human Genome Center at Shanghai and School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He was awarded with Shanghai Rising-Star Program in 2009 and the Development Fund for Shanghai Talents in 2017.
 From July 2006 to now, he has worked as PI of the Department of Genetics in Chinese National Human Genome Center at Shanghai (CHGC, currently Shanghai Institute for Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Technologies, SIBPT), mainly responsible for population genetics and cancer research. From November 2015 to December 2020, he served as executive deputy director of the Shanghai Hescheler Institute, Shanghai Industrial Technology Institute. As the project leader, he has undertaken 11 projects, including 2 National Natural Science Foundation of China and 2 major special projects of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, with a total funding of more than 10 million. The number of his papers published in Molecular Cancer and Human Mutation etc. is over 50. In addition, he is Co-editor in chief of “Stem Cells-The Light of Regenerative Medicine”, which is a part of “the Light of Science and Innovation Book Series” recommended by the National Press and Publication Administration as one of the “100 Excellent Books” and was selected as Shanghai Excellent Science Popularization in 2018. He has been granted 6 national authorized invention patents.
Main research directions:
1. Stem cell research and application: Based on the human iPS-derived cardiomyocytes for drug evaluation. and carry out technical services according to clinical needs.
2. Cancer research: Through the systematic study of genome-wide expression profiles, epigenetics and DNA copy number variation, miRNA, circulating DNA, fecal DNA etc., carry out early diagnosis of tumors, prognostic outcomes, and research on sensitivity differences between neoadjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
