Dr Maohua Miao was born in Inner Mongolia in 1977. As a professor in SIPPR, she is the director of the department of epidemiology and social medicine, the director of research group of environment, reproduction and perinatal epidemiology, and a Doctoral supervisor of Fudan university. She finished her medical training at Baotou Medical College in 2000. In 2005, she received her Doctor degree from Shanxi Medical University.
Dr Miao’s research interest is focused on the effect of environmental exposure, especially endocrine disrupting chemicals, on human reproduction. She has been the principle investigator of the several studies including“ Bisphenol A exposure and decreased semen quality and its basis of abnormal DNAMethylation/hydroxymethylation” (National Natural Science Foundation of China), “the effect of in-utero exposure of BPA and its methylation basis” (Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission), “Maternal PBDEs exposure during pregnancy and neurodevelopment of offspring: a cohort study” (National Natural Science Foundation of China) , “Environmental BPA exposure and puberty development” (Kaiser Foundation) . She is the co-investigator of studies including “ The etiology, mechanism and early intervention of major birth defects in China” (National Key Research Project of China), “Exposure to Bisphenol A & Reproductive Effect in Humans” (NIH /NIOSH) “Genetic and environmental risk factors of sperm abnormality in a population with unique genetic background” (973 program) ,“Basic research on the development and intervention of congenital heart disease” (973 program) . She has published over 100 scientific papers, among them 50 papers were published in SCI journals.
