    Master supervisor of Fudan University. Headof Laboratory of Reproductive Pharmacology, Shanghai Institute of Planned Parenthood Research (SIPPR). PI of Key Laboratory of Contraceptive Drugs and Devices, NHC. PI of Institute of Reproductive and Development of Fudan University. Executive direct of Reproductive Professional Committee of Chinese Pharmacological Society& Shanghai Pharmacological Society. Fellow of Traditional Chinese Medicine Professional Committee of Chinese Pharmacological Society.
       Dr. Yan Zhu received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, China, and a Ph.D. from Fudan University, China, and accomplished visiting scholar exchange program at the University of British Columbia, Canada, sponsored by China Scholarships Council. Since 1999, Dr. Zhu has been working inSIPPR, one of collaborating center for research in reproduction by the World Health Organization (WHO).
    She devotes to pharmacological study of drugs used in the reproductive system and is good at the evaluationof preclinical pharmacodynamics and toxicity and early drug discoveryin area of birth control and gynecological diseases. Her team establishedvariously experimental models of cells and animals, including antifertility, epididymis infertility, dysmenorrhea, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and tumors of endometria and ovaries and is experienced in the drug development of birth control, fertility protection and reproductive tumor treatment.
       Dr. ZHU published more than 90 full-length papers (including more than 20 SCI papers) and obtained 6 authorized patent and compiledchapters related to reproductive disease for the book of Pharmacological Experimental Methodology (4th Edition), Pharmacological Research Methodology and Pharmacological Advance Report (2010-2011). Moreover, Dr. ZHU undertook and participated in more than twenty projectsin theNational Key R & D Program, including "Eleventh Five-Year""Twelfth Five-Year"and"Thirteenth Five-Year", National Natural Science Foundation of China, Shanghai Natural Science Foundation.Based on extensive experience, Her teamoffer pharmaceutical companies and institutions withprofessionalservices in PK, PD and bioequivalence evaluation, and these projects were approved by the State Drug Administration and received Drug Clinical Trial Approval or Drugs Registration Approval, including levonorgestrel and ethinylestradiol contraceptive patch, gestodene patch,Jiaweimojie tablets, compound levonorgestrel tablets, etc.Two projects have won the prizes of Excellent Scientific and Technological Achievements from the National Population and Family Planning in the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan".
Research Area
(1). R & D of birth control drugs: Extremely good at pharmacodynamics and toxicologicalresearch of birth control drugs with special rout of administration, such as vagina, uterine cavity and transdermal, etc;
(2). Pharmacodynamic evaluation and mechanism of action of medication for gynecological diseases and tumor: Utilizing the models of cells and animals to evaluate pharmacodynamicsof traditional medicine and chemical compoundsand investigatemechanism of action of medication and perform early drug development in reproductive system. 
(3) Dr. ZHU’s team established a unique approach for PKassayof ultra-low-dose estrogen, progesterone and other steroidal contraceptive using HPLC-MS and radioimmunoassay and able to provide services for the assay of sex hormones and analogues.
